The Southern Vancouver Island Schutzhund Club (SVISC) grew from an informal group in 1988 to a registered club in 1989. The training requires a commitment from its participants not only in time, but of hard work, a willingness to learn and a love for the outdoors. We train all year round, regardless of the weather.
The SVISC is not a training agency. It is a club where its members can receive guidance in training their dog from experienced handlers, whether they intend to participate for recreation or trial their dog in competitions.
We are an active member of the German Shepherd Schutzhund Club of Canada (GSSCC), the governing association for Schutzhund sport in Canada.
The SVISC also recognizes other clubs in the association and affiliations with the Verein für deutsche Schäferhunde and the VDH.
